1132 Meeting Helper
Open 1132 Meeting Helper for the launch panel. Click its menu bar icon with either mouse button to open the same menu. Choose Start sandboxed Zoom to use the sandbox workaround for error 1132.
Mac release: use the app from the release ZIP produced by Release.command. That script requires a Curiositech Developer ID signature, Apple notarization status Accepted, a stapled ticket, and Gatekeeper acceptance. Universal compilation and local sandbox visibility checks pass. Meeting behavior depends on Zoom and the affected Mac; see the local validation report for the tests performed.
Install the signed Mac app
- Open 1132-Meeting-Helper-macOS-universal.dmg.
- Drag 1132 Meeting Helper into the Applications shortcut.
- Eject the disk image and open 1132 Meeting Helper from Applications.
A brief welcome animation introduces the app. The launch panel provides a drag-to-start control and keyboard access through the same control. Opening the helper does not reset or launch Zoom.
Build from the source package
- Install Zoom Workplace normally if you do not already have it: Zoom download.
- Open the source package you received and extract its folder. Keep the extracted folder together.
- If this package includes a notarized app in release, Install.command verifies and installs it directly. Otherwise it builds a local source version. Double-click Install.command. If Apple’s Command Line Tools are missing, click Install in Apple’s prompt, wait for installation to finish, then double-click Install.command again. You do not need the full Xcode app.
- The installer builds the menu bar app and installs it in Home → Applications → 1132 Meeting Helper. Look for 1132 Meeting Helper icon at the top of your screen.
If the command file will not open, press Command–Space, type Terminal, press Return, type /bin/bash including the final space, drag Install.command into Terminal, and press Return. No file-path typing is needed.
If macOS blocks the locally built app, open it once from Home → Applications, then use the specific app’s Open Anyway option under System Settings → Privacy & Security if offered. Keep the system’s security checks enabled.
Use it
- Choose Start sandboxed Zoom from the menu or launch panel. The first start explains that the operation closes an existing Zoom session and resets Zoom’s local state with a backup. Future starts use the same behavior when you choose Start.
- Allow camera and microphone access for 1132 Meeting Helper. The launcher requests these because Zoom runs as its sandboxed child. You can still launch without them, but audio or video may be unavailable.
- Approve the DNS-refresh administrator prompt if that option is enabled. You can turn it off through the menu. Canceling that prompt skips DNS refresh and continues.
- Join inside native Zoom. Enter the meeting ID, name, and passcode or sign in as needed. The helper does not automatically join a copied link. Zoom and the meeting host still decide admission.
Keep 1132 Meeting Helper running during the meeting. If its own sandboxed Zoom is already running, choosing Start sandboxed Zoom brings that session forward instead of resetting it again.
Left-click or right-click the 1132 Meeting Helper icon to open the same menu.
| Option | Purpose |
| Start sandboxed Zoom (backup + reset) | The full modern macOS workaround: probe the sandbox, check the default network route, stop Zoom and its updater agents, move local state into a backup, optionally refresh DNS, and start native Zoom inside the sandbox. |
| Try sandbox only | Quit any existing Zoom process and launch in the sandbox without resetting local state or changing updater-agent settings. |
| Check sandbox visibility | Compare ordinary and sandboxed reads. Displays only visible/hidden status, never hardware identifier values. It changes no Zoom state. |
| Restore most recent state backup… | Close Zoom, separately back up its current state, restore the previous state, and restore the original updater-agent settings. |
| Restore updater agents | Undo this helper’s updater-agent changes without restoring Zoom data. |
| Show last result / backups and local log | See completed steps, failures, and the preserved backups. |
| Open Zoom Web App | Browser fallback in your usual browser. |
| Quit 1132 Meeting Helper | If its sandboxed Zoom is running, asks before ending that session. |
What gets reset
The helper moves these existing paths into its backup folder rather than deleting them:
~/Library/Application Support/zoom.us
~/Library/Caches/us.zoom.xos
~/Library/Preferences/us.zoom.xos.plist
~/Library/Saved Application State/us.zoom.xos.savedState
~/Library/Logs/zoom.us.log*
It also clears the Zoom preferences domain so macOS does not reuse cached settings. This signs you out and resets local preferences. Recordings in Documents → Zoom are outside those paths. The helper pauses only the named Zoom updater agents and keeps their previous settings for restoration. Backups are not automatically deleted; use Show backups to review storage consumption.
What the sandbox checks mean
The profile denies selected IOKit hardware-property reads and reading /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist. The helper tests those paths using a compiled probe before changing Zoom state. If a value was readable normally but is still readable inside the sandbox, it stops. An input unavailable in the normal probe is marked unverified.
A passing probe shows that those particular reads are hidden. It does not prove that every fingerprint route is hidden or that error 1132 is bypassed. The final test is joining a meeting on the affected Mac. There is no unsandboxed native-launch fallback.
The full-start path stops when the default route uses a VPN interface. This app follows the modern macOS path and does not implement the reference project’s optional macOS 13 MAC-address spoofing. It has no automatic update check, analytics, or external bug-report submission.
If a step fails
- Sandbox rejected or identifiers still visible: the operation stops before resetting Zoom. Use Show last result to see the probe status.
- Zoom would not quit: quit it manually and choose Start sandboxed Zoom again. The helper does not force-kill an unresponsive process.
- Audio or video missing: enable 1132 Meeting Helper under macOS Privacy & Security → Camera / Microphone. Quit both apps and reopen the helper afterward.
- No menu bar icon: open Home → Applications → 1132 Meeting Helper. A crowded menu bar or MacBook notch may hide status items.
- Still receiving 1132: the workaround has not succeeded for that block. A successful launch alone is not evidence of recovery.
Automatic launch and removal
To show the 1132 Meeting Helper icon after restarting, add 1132 Meeting Helper under System Settings → General → Login Items → Open at Login. Starting the helper at login does not automatically reset or launch Zoom.
Before removal, use Restore updater agents. Restore your state backup as well if wanted. Quit the helper, remove its login item, and move the app to Trash. Its files remain under Home → Library → Application Support → Zoom Helper Native; this legacy folder name keeps earlier backups available, and Show backups opens it. Removing the app alone does not restore the paused agents or saved state.
Signing and notarization
Version 2.3 validation: the independent profile awaits your affected-Mac meeting test. A download explicitly labeled “notarization pending” is Developer ID signed but has no Apple notarization acceptance claim. Release-Test.command creates that clearly identified test package; production Release.command still requires notarization. macOS may require Open Anyway under Privacy & Security for a downloaded pending-notarization test app.
The publisher entry point Release.command uses Developer ID Application: Curiositech LLC (P5H9P59X2M) and Port Daddy’s existing PORT_DADDY_SIGN_IDENTITY, PORT_DADDY_NOTARY_PROFILE, and optional PORT_DADDY_NOTARY_KEYCHAIN variables. The prepared CI workflow uses the same APPLE_* secret names as Port Daddy.
Release creation requires a Developer ID signature, Apple status Accepted, a stapled ticket, signature verification, and a passing Gatekeeper assessment. It never silently substitutes an ad-hoc signature. Notarization uses the pd-notary credential profile in Keychain when that profile is available. Release.command submits 1132 Meeting Helper to Apple and creates the ZIP and DMG only after acceptance and local validation. Private keys remain in Keychain.
Credits and license
The launcher, backup/restore code, and independently authored macOS sandbox profile are MIT licensed under LICENSE.txt, which is included with the app. The profile denies selected hardware-property reads and one system network-interface file path. Its visibility checks have not established that every fingerprint route is blocked.
The independently authored profile has not yet been tested with Zoom on the affected Mac. Meeting admission, camera, microphone, speakers, screen sharing, and other Zoom behavior remain pending that test. The prior profile and its noncommercial license are retained in the source tree for historical artifacts; they are not part of the current build. The Windows helper contains no Mac sandbox profile and carries its own MIT and Microsoft/.NET dependency notices.
Validation status
The profile compiles with stock sandbox-exec. On this Mac, the probe hides the serial, UUID, MAC address, and network-file reads that were visible in the baseline; board ID was unavailable and remains unverified. The promoted profile has not yet been tested with Zoom on the affected Mac. Meeting admission, media permissions and capture, speakers, screen sharing, state restoration, and updater restoration remain pending that test. See the local validation report for current build/release checks and the separate affected-Mac test limits.
